About us

The Charlie Waller Trust was set up in 1997 in memory of Charlie Waller, a young man who took his own life whilst suffering from depression. The Trust raises awareness of depression and fights stigma, provides training to schools, universities, workplaces, GPs and nurses, and encourages those who may be depressed to seek help. The Trust also supports research and teaching in evidence-based therapies and sponsors a Chair in Evidence-based Psychological Treatments at the Charlie Waller Institute at the University of Reading. Our workplace training aims to support employers and line managers to tackle the stigma relating to mental ill health and create a healthy working environment, so that employees can perform at their best level: charliewaller.org/what-we-do/for-employers
